Western Sydney is one of the most multicultural places in the world, and English isn't everyone's first language. That shouldn't stop you getting a truck licence.
Available languages
According to Transport for NSW, the heavy vehicle knowledge test is available in English, Arabic, Chinese, Croatian, Greek, Korean, Serbian, Spanish, Turkish and Vietnamese.
Free interpreters
If your language isn't on that list, a free interpreter service is available. Call Service NSW on 13 77 88 to arrange one before you book your test.
Extra support if you need it
- Reading help: if you have trouble reading the questions, staff can read them out and explain them.
- Audio version: an audio version of the test is available in multiple languages.
- Support programs: the Driver Licensing Access Program and the "Get licensed, get legal, get work" program can help with literacy, numeracy and computer skills.
What about training?
Training and the final assessment involve instructions in English, so it helps to learn the key driving words: mirrors, indicate, gear, brake, reverse, left and right. We're patient, and we'll make sure you understand every instruction.
