If you live in Bankstown, Fairfield, Liverpool or anywhere in Western Sydney, you're sitting in the middle of the country's biggest freight action.
Moorebank: Australia's largest logistics hub
The Moorebank Intermodal Precinct, near Liverpool, has been described as Australia's largest logistics hub. Government and industry figures say it's expected to support around 6,800 jobs once operating at full capacity, with huge warehousing alongside rail terminals linking Sydney to Port Botany, Melbourne and Brisbane.
But doesn't rail replace trucks?
For long distance, partly. One long freight train can replace many B-double trips. But every container that arrives at Moorebank still has to reach a warehouse, shop or building site, and that last stretch is done by truck. More freight through Western Sydney means more local driving work.
Western Sydney Airport
The new Western Sydney International Airport and the business park growing around it add another wave of freight, construction and logistics activity to the region.
Wetherill Park and surrounds
Our training yard sits in one of Sydney's busiest industrial areas, surrounded by depots, distribution centres and transport companies. Training here means learning in exactly the kind of traffic you'll be driving in.
